Lasdun Restaurant - South Bank presents an elegant fusion of British flavors in a stunning, brutalist setting, inspired by famed architect Denys Lasdun. Located just steps from the National Theatre, it’s an ideal choice for pre-show dining. With a thoughtfully crafted menu, diners rave about the Hereford carpaccio and the standout chicken, leek, and girolle pie, beautifully encased in a flaky pastry that’s worth every minute of its preparation time. The ambiance, accentuated by white tablecloths and a striking ceiling design, creates a refined experience that pairs beautifully with the dining options. A commendable selection of sweet wines and digestifs complements the dishes, enhancing the overall gastronomic pleasure. Customer reviews reveal a consensus on the friendly, attentive service that adds to the charm of the meal. Highlights include prompt service for diners on a tight schedule, as noted by Maria Morgan, who enjoyed a two-course meal that didn’t skimp on quality. Whether indulging in the delicate crab soup or finishing with the heavenly apple pie, each dish is crafted with care, making Lasdun a noteworthy destination for those seeking a memorable dining experience in the heart of London.

Lasdun is named after Denys Lasdun, the architect for the National Gallery. It opened a 15 months ago with the chefs previously having worked in St John’s. On the first floor with access from the outside and the interior of the national theatre. Beautiful brutalist interior with white table cloths. Love the ceiling design. There were four tables for Saturday lunch, all heading to the 2.15pm show. The two and three course menu were select. The starter of the Hereford carpaccio with celeriac salad was beautiful- light and tasty. The crab soup was excellent with a crispy toast. A nice thick brown liquid with a Super intense of crab flavour. The mains of the shared Chicken , leek and girollle pie was excellent. Nice crispy Flakey pastry crust with chicken stew and breast pieces. It does take about 20minutes to Prepare so they do warn you prior to ordering just in case there is a time pressure of a meal before a show. Nice choice stew with leek pieces with unfortunately with only 4 girolle. The meal was heavy that we didn’t order deserts. Wine was well priced. The service attentive and pleasant.

Enjoyed a really lovely meal here before going off to see a show. Really excellent food and great value. If you get a chance to try the chicken pie for two people definitely give it a go! Best chicken pie I have tasted in many many years.

Finally I can eat good food before the show. We came 45 min before she those. We managed to go though 2 course set menus for 40pp. Food came fast. I had dressed crab and a fish cake both were great. Good wine selection. Charged us for bread(that was very good by the way) Payed about 120 with wine , coffee.

Cute and quiet spot for an elevated British meal - the cod, the crumbed chicken and the anchovies were excellent and the apple pie was a perfect finisher. Service was a bit slow but good/sweet. Great spot, especially for a pre/post theatre meal

Elegant gem off the the busy Southbank, nestled within the gorgeous national theatre. The interior design is one of the main reasons you should visit, then obviously the food and the drinks. We had the pre-theatre menu and loved it. Great value, fantastic taste and generous portions. The service was excellent, relaxed and professional. Will definitely go back next time I’m in the area

Thank you so much to the lovely team, who looked after us very well when dining here last night. Everything from the welcome, to wine suggestions, to the parting gift of take-home tart really added to our experience, we felt very welcomed and catered for. The food was all excellent, with great new season asparagus, delicious sauces with the mains, very nicely cooked rib eye and trout. Flavours were all very well balanced, and wine options by the glass were also extensive and well-chosen. I had a very memorable meal in perfectly relaxed surroundings and cannot wait to return.

Thanks to the Lasdun's front of house team and the chef for a delicious dinner overlooking the Thames! We had a large group with numbers and dates changing and the team was wonderfully accommodating up until the last minute. The set menu is excellent value as well as delicious, the setting has a touch of old-school elegance with starched tablecloths but without fripperies, and the service was impeccable. Many thanks!
